Liberty Chamber of Commerce
The Liberty Chamber of Commerce is proud to represent the business and professional community of Liberty, South Carolina.
The City of Liberty is nestled at the base of the foothills of South Carolina. We are just south of the natural wonders of the Joccasee Gorges Natural Area and the Table Rock Caesars Head portion of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Liberty is centrally located within Pickens County between Clemson University and the Greenville/Spartanburg Metropolitan Area.
This unique location affords our residents and visitors with access to the best that the Upstate of South Carolina has to offer. There is a wide range of attractions ranging from a Clemson College football game, the cultural events of the Peace Center for the Performing Arts, or the quiet solitude of a hiking trip through Table Rock.

Nicole Krempel
President
Nicole Krempel has been a part of the Liberty community since 2003 when Liberty Federal Credit Union opened an office in Liberty. Nicole has been a part of the credit union movement since 1997.

In 2006 Liberty Federal Credit Union merged with SC Telco Federal Credit Union. She began her career as a teller, then leading the Liberty Branch for seven years. For the past three years she has served as the Business Development Coordinator for SC Telco. Nicole is proud to be a graduate of Leadership Pickens County and currently serves as the President of the Liberty Chamber of Commerce. Nicole has built strong relationships with members of the community and is honored to represent the businesses in Liberty. In Nicole’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her fiancé Mike in their home in Greer. |

Amelia Morris Simmons
Board Member
Amelia (Amy) Morris Simmons, a Liberty native, serves on the Liberty Chamber of Commerce Board. She graduated from Liberty High School and then attended Anderson College (now Anderson University) for two years.

After completing college, she married Don Stuart Simmons, Jr. of Easley. She has lived in San Antonio, Texas, Nashville, Tennessee, Charleston, South Carolina and now resides in Easley, South Carolina. She has two children: Don Stuart Simmons, III who is 20 years old and attends The Citadel and Elizabeth McClain Simmons who is 17 years old and is a Junior at Easley High School. Amy has worked for Partners Construction Company in Accounting, Byron’s BBQ as an Accounts Payable Clerk, American House Spinning in Accounting and now owns The Printing Machine in Liberty, South Carolina, a company her father, Bobby Morris started in 1977. She enjoys spending time with her family, bowling and working. |

G. Neil Smith
Board Member
Neil Smith is a graduate of Liberty High School and Clemson University. He is currently President of GNS Media, LLC in Liberty, S.C.

Prior to forming GNS Media, LLC, he was associated with The Liberty Corporation and Cosmos Broadcasting Corporation for over 25 years in various financial and administrative positions.
Smith is the former president of Liberty Federal Credit Union and the former Chairman of Cannon Memorial Hospital and Pickens County Council. Smith is the current Pickens County Council Vice-Chairman and he is a Board member of The Upstate Alliance, Broadcast Music, Inc. and the Appalachian Council of Governments. He has held numerous state, community and industry positions over the years.

Lisa Mullikin Hunter
Vice President
Lisa Mullikin Hunter, a Liberty native, has been a member of the Board for over a year, and currently serves as Vice-President.

Lisa is a licensed insurance agent with BB&T Barnes Insurance where she writes personal home and auto insurance policies. Lisa graduated from Southern Wesleyan University and is presently continuing there to further her education. Her son, Darius, attends Liberty Middle School. Darius is also very involved in the Liberty Recreation Department playing basketball, baseball, and football. Lisa has been involved in the community over the past 7 years with the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce serving as an Ambassador. She enjoys working with the public, community involvement, and building better business relationships.

Vicky Chappell
Board Member
Vicky Chappell, a Liberty native, is employed with First Citizens Bank at the Liberty branch where she is the Personal Banker. She has been employed there for over 6 years but has worked in the banking field for over 25 years.

Vicky enjoys helping her customers with all of their financial needs. She is a member of the Liberty Ladies League and is an active member of First Baptist Church in Liberty. She is married to Barry Chappell and has three daughters, Delana, Melanie, and Sarah. Vicky was elected to the Board of Directors on January 18, 2011, and is anxious to work with the Chamber to help make the general interests of its members become a reality in making Liberty a great place to live, work, and do business.

Karen Sanchez Roper
Secretary
Karen Sanchez Roper is an attorney and partner in Roper Law Firm. She and her husband Ken, a Liberty native, have practiced law in Liberty for over 10 years.

Karen practices primarily in Family Court, representing children and families in the areas of divorce, custody, and child support. She also serves as a Certified Family Court Mediator. Karen is the mother of two boys, Carson and Hamp, who attend Pickens County schools. She and her family are active members of Pickens Presbyterian Church. Karen was elected to the Chamber board in December 2009, and she currently serves as Secretary. Karen is committed to improving the business climate in Liberty for all of our members.

Jessica Baker
Treasurer
Jessica Baker serves as the Treasurer with the Liberty Chamber of Commerce. She also works as a Branch Manager for SC Telco Federal Credit Union.

Jessica has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and is also a 2010 graduate of Leadership Pickens County. In her leisure time she enjoys shopping, reading and spending time with family and friends. |
