History of the Chamber of Commerce
The goals of the Liberty Chamber of Commerce, formed on March 11, 1976, are varied, ranging from acquiring new businesses to improvement in educational facilities. The Chamber uses advices from citizens in deciding on the image of the town and in formulating some of its objectives.
The Chamber elected as its first president Bannister F. Eads, owner of Eads Funeral Home. Other officers elected on June 14, 1976, were Sara Gantt, vice president; Sue Dyar, secretary and treasurer; Michael Sanders, legal counsel; and a board of directors consisting of Ralph Sarlin, Dean Andrews, John Hunter, Tom Lollis, and H.S. (Larry) Lawrence.
